How do we enter the cost of new items added to inventory?

Hi Felicia!  We did make some recent improvements to the main inventory page to help with replenishment management.  Some customers thought that by adding the cost to the main inventory page for replenishments, it would update the cost properly, but that wasn't the case.

The main Inventory page now displays the active cost for items.  To edit these, click on the Active Cost/Unit field to update.  This will take you directly to the Sub MSKU page for you to edit manually.  Enter the new Cost/Unit (and any other editable info on the page) and then save the change.

If you're wanting to update the costs for multiple items that haven't been replenished, the fastest way to do this is to import costs in bulk with the steps in the following article- Bulk Import Accounting Details into Inventory via .csv

For items that you replenish, the process to update the replenishment cost or sort sequence has always been to click on the MSKU and then add the cost on the Sub MSKU page, so that process hasn't changed.

It's a shame you changed this. It was so nice to just check the boxes and add product info. Creating a .csv file is kinda ridiculous when I just want to add info for 10 new items from the same vendor at the same price.   I don't think your service is worth the cost. I'm going to cancel your software for 2019.

Hi Felicia. We're very sorry to hear this. We have reached out to our dev team regarding this and they are looking into returning some editing functionality on that main page.

I have to agree 100% with Felicia.  All of the changes surrounding replenishment have caused significant headaches for us.  We now spending many hours of manual labor to update prices for items that are truly not replenishable items that can not be updated in bulk.  If there is not going to be a way to update prices in bulk can we please have a way to opt out of using the replenishment features?

Hi Damon. Thanks for your feedback on this. Opting out of updates to your replenishments could cause problems for your accounting but I am happy to pass this idea along to our developers as well. They will continue to look into ways they may make this easier or return some of the previous editing features.

I am trying to export my inventory so I can update buy costs but when the CSV file populates, MSKU's that do not start with a 0 are populating in Scientific number format rather than General number format.  Even if I update the CSV to General number format, once I save and close the file, it reverts back to Scientific format.  Scientific format is causing the buy costs not to update properly.  I am extremely frustrated.  What is the fix for this?

H There John, Typically these MSKUs should be exported with surrounding quotations to avoid this issue. If you find this is not the case, please open a case at support.inventorylab.com. You should also be able to update the MSKU and save the change by inserting quotations around the MSKU in your file.

    Mary,

I need to manually insert quotations around each of my MSKU's?  I can't imagine I am understanding this correctly.  That would be absurd for a customer to have to do.

    Thank you,

    John

Hello John, as I mentioned these quotations should be happening automatically and to open a ticket with support if you found this was not the case. Not to worry, I have opened a ticket on your behalf which you should receive notification of shortly.

Hello Mary are there any updates to when the development team will have the inventory update page back to the way it was.. I have spent almost all day trying to update my current CPU and still have tons more to do due to having to do it one at a time.

Hi Katie. We have passed along the feedback for these changes. Our development team is still looking at improvements, but the inventory page will not be reverted back to the way it was previously since those changes were a necessary part of a future overhaul for replenishments.
