Tell us what you think: Min/Max Price
Greetings!
Our InventoryLab Product Team would like your opinion on a possible addition. We are considering adding the oft requested Amazon Min Price and Max Price to the List page in Stratify. It would look something like the image below.
Here is what the change would include:
- You could now set the Amazon Min and Max Price values without having to go to Seller Central.
- There would be some new options in InventoryLab->Auto Price Rule if you wanted to initially auto calculate them based on your List Price in IL.
- The "eye" icon (the same as is used for Expiration Date) would toggle the fields to disabled if you don't want to use them.
Unfortunately, Amazon does not provide us a way to retrieve the Min and Max Price information they have on record (we can't get it back in the API). In other words, we can send it to them, but that's it. Therefore, there would be some limitations:
- The Min and Max Price fields would only be available when listing an item.
- We have no way of knowing if the value you initially sent from IL has changed. It could be later modified in Seller Central or by other software you might use like a repricer.
- If you weren't sure of your current values, you'd have to confirm them inside of Seller Central.
- Because the values could change without our knowledge, we would not report them anywhere within InventoryLab. This would include the Inventory page.
We know this has been a popular request for a long time, but wanted to hear your opinions after knowing the whole picture. Please tell us what you think in the comments. Thank you in advance for your input!

This would be of limited use to users of 3p repricers as described.
I would prefer to have the mins and maxes in a report for later use rather than passed to seller central and create another report to pull and cross reference. The value of recording this information when I'm listing is so that I don't have to calculate it approximately later with a formula.
I will echo again what I have suggested in the past. Create a repricing report that will be downloadable and contain:
Cost
Date of purcahse
Mins
Max
asin
Msku
list price
Thanks for considering

Perry,
Just to clarify: are you saying you'd prefer those values not be sent to Amazon, but rather recorded so that you could later print a list and enter them into your third-party repricer?
Follow up question (if you're willing to share): what information do you regularly have to enter into your third party repricer? Does your repricer algorithm take care of setting the min and max price, for example, based on the list price or do you enter all three for each product? I know everyone will be a little different, just trying to understand how this all might fit together.
Thank you and everyone else for your feedback so far. It's very helpful!

Jon,
We would prefer to have the OPTION to send those values to Amazon. It would be super helpful to record these data points specifically to be used in the closed batch report. This is the report that is used for our repricer. Some repricers also do this calculation but probably not across the board. It is really good to calculate these at the time of listings and to possible pull in these data points into a SKU.
Obviously, these values can change as Amazon updates fees, etc. and would not be dynamic, but this would be good for how we operate. I worked in the software biz in both support and development roles, so i can't stress to make any change optional if possible even if it bumps up your estimates. Customer satisfaction is worth it every time.

Jon,
I after reconsidering....
I'd be happy to set the values and pass them through to amazon. Amazon makes it relatively easy to retrieve.
We use bqool so: cogs, mins, max and list price are all helpful.
One huge advantage that setting this stuff at the time of listing would be huge is that we'd be calculating mins based on actual amazon charges. We currently have to estimate based on excel formulas. Less than ideal.
Thanks

I'll throw a +1 in on this. The ability to set min/max while listing is a significant time saver overall, especially when in combination with Amazon's Automate Pricing tool. (With that, I really don't think there's any incentive to develop Yet Another Repricer.)
Bonus round would be "given my cost and the ASIN, prefill min/max based on these ROIs".

One thing that might put Janine at ease: since the min/max is shared between Amazon's pricing alerts and Automate Pricing, there's obviously no downside to sending a number since it may head off a pricing alert and won't automate any pricing unless/until it's added to a rule.
That said, being able to set a static number (say, min $4 max $999 if you're only worried about shutting up Amazon) and keep it persistent while listing would be a beneficial feature too. :)
