My sales dashboard in Amazon is showing a different number than InventoryLab, how come?
InventoryLab does not track your sales figures, ordered product sales, or any type of sales figures. InventoryLab tracks your payment figures.
So, what’s the difference between sales and payments?
Sales numbers shown to you in the Seller Central Sales Dashboard are from the date that your product was ordered. If you sell any products through FBA, you know that orders can stay pending for several days before being shipped. The payment is not posted, however, until the date it is shipped. Therefore, we track your payment data, as we are running numbers for TRUE accounting purposes.
Payments reports can be found in Seller Central by going to Reports>Payments.
Shouldn’t you be matching Amazon’s orders numbers and showing all types of sales numbers too?
No, sales numbers are irrelevant for accounting. You cannot truly account for income or expenses until the payment transaction is posted. Amazon has some great FREE tools in their dashboard for all sellers to access sales figures. While these numbers are great for business analysis, they have very little to do with true financial reporting and accounting.
How do I make sure InventoryLab is showing correct accounting information?
You can follow the steps in the following support article to reconcile your data- How to Reconcile Amazon with InventoryLab
