After completing the box content information for your LTL (Less Than Truckload) shipments, it's time to print 2D barcodes and purchase shipping labels. You can purchase shipping and complete them without ever leaving InventoryLab.
Note: Please be sure you are familiar with Amazon's LTL guidelines and requirements, located here - Truckload delivery to Amazon
If you prefer to complete shipments in Seller Central instead of InventoryLab, you can manually close your batch and upload a shipping plan file using Send to Amazon. For steps, please see- Uploading a Shipping Plan File Using Send to Amazon
Printing 2D Barcodes Individually
Printing All 2D Barcodes in Bulk
Printing 2D Barcodes Individually
Note: Amazon allows up to 100 items per box but only 700 characters per 2D Barcode label. Due to variables that affect the number of characters needed per item, we have set the limit to a maximum of 40 ASINs per box to prevent issues.
To complete a shipment in InventoryLab, click Purchase Shipping Labels next to a shipment towards the top of the page.
The 2D barcode labels for that shipment will open in a new tab to be printed using your browser's printing functions.
Note: If you have toggled On the Unified 2D & Box Labels option in your Manage Label Printing settings, your Unified 2D Barcodes and box labels will open in a new tab after accepting shipping charges or entering the tracking/PO Numbers. For instructions and information about Unified Labels, please see- How to Print Unified 2D Box Labels
Note: If your labels don't seem to be opening, try these steps- My 2D barcode labels or shipping labels aren't opening!
A window will appear asking how you'd like to complete your shipment.
You will see a message stating that your boxes should contain 40 or fewer ASINs in order to proceed. If you need to make adjustments to your boxes, click Cancel. Or, if you're ready to go ahead, you can click the checkbox next to the message.
Choose the Shipping Method, either LTL: Partnered Carrier or LTL: Non-Partnered Carrier.
LTL: Partnered Carrier
Note: When using this shipping method, the cost will be billed to your Amazon Seller account as an inbound transportation charge. For information on the Amazon Partnered Carrier program and how shipping costs are estimated, please refer to their documentation located here- Amazon Partnered Carrier options
Select the Shipment Ready Date, which is the date the shipment will be ready to be loaded and transported from its origin.
Next, enter the information for the Contact Responsible for the Shipment. This includes the following details:
- Name
- Phone
- Fax (optional)
In the Shipment Info section, the Declared Shipment Value is displayed, which is calculated automatically using the List Price for each unit in the shipment. Click in the field to make adjustments to the value if needed. This field is required.
Once everything looks good, click Next to proceed.
You will be taken to a screen where you can enter the weight/dimensions for the boxes and build your pallets.
Note: If you're experiencing delays or slowness when entering your box and pallet information, try turning off extensions like LastPass on your browser. For help with managing your browser extensions, check these links for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.
Shipment Boxes
In the Shipment Boxes section, you can enter the weight and dimensions for all the boxes in the shipment. You will see a message stating that all box dimensions must be greater than 0 inches and all box weights must be 1 lb or greater.
Note: Once a box has been assigned to a pallet, changes to weight/dimensions will need to be done in the Pallets section.
To search for a specific box in the shipment, enter the full box name in the Search Boxes field. For example, if I wanted to find the 87th box in my shipment, I would enter U087 in the search field.
To clear the search, click the X in the search field.
You can enter the weight and dimensions for boxes individually or in bulk.
To enter the weight/dimensions for all of the boxes in the shipment, you can enter these values in the Set All Box dimensions section. You can still manually edit the weight/dimensions for individual boxes afterward if needed.
If you enter values in the Set All Box Dimensions section and change them, or if you have entered weight/dimensions for boxes individually and then enter values in the Set All Box Dimensions section, you will see a warning that this action will overwrite the weight and/or dimensions values for all of the boxes.
Click Confirm to proceed with updating all your boxes, or Cancel to go back.
If you have groups of boxes that you need to enter or add the same weight/dimensions for, you can click on a box and hold the Shift key on your keyboard, then click the last box in the group to select it and all the boxes in between.
From here, enter the weight/dimensions values for the group of boxes in the Set Selected Box Dimensions section.
Similarly, you can hold down the Control or Command key on your keyboard while clicking on individual boxes to select them at once. Then, use the Set Selected Box Dimensions field to enter or edit their weight/dimensions.
Pallets
In the Pallets section, you can create pallets and build them by assigning your boxes to them. You will see a message stating that each pallet weight must be between 150 and 1500 lbs and pallet height must be greater than 0, and less than 72" (for non-stackable) or 50" (for stackable).
Note: Please be sure you are familiar with Amazon's pallet guidelines and requirements, located here- Pallet requirements
You are not required to assign boxes to pallets.
Stackable pallets can not exceed 750 lbs.
The first pallet will already be created for you. To add additional pallets, click the + Add Pallet button.
To select a group of boxes to add to a pallet, click on a box in the Shipment Boxes section and hold the Shift key on your keyboard, then click the last box in the group to select it and all the boxes in between.
Or, to select multiple boxes that aren't next to each other, hold down the Control or Command key on your keyboard while clicking on individual boxes.
Once boxes are selected, click the Add to Pallet button that appears over the pallet you want to add the boxes to.
The example below demonstrates building pallets by assigning boxes to them.
If the pallet is stackable, click the Stackable checkbox. With this checked, you will see a warning if the height entered for the pallet is over 50".
As you assign boxes to pallets, the Weight field will automatically calculate the weight of the pallet using the weight that was entered for the boxes. It can be updated by clicking in the field and changing the value if needed.
Amazon currently requires the use of 40 x 48 inches, 4-way access wooden pallets, so these Dimensions will be filled in for you and cannot be changed.
Enter the height of the pallet in the last field.
To see a list of the boxes assigned to a pallet, click the arrow next to the pallet name.
If adjustments to the weight/dimensions of some of the boxes are needed, you can change them here individually or in bulk by using the Set All Box Dimensions section. The pallet weight will be updated accordingly if edited for any boxes.
To unassign a box from the pallet, click the x next to the box name.
The unassigned box will move back to the Shipment Boxes section so it can be assigned to a different pallet.
To unassign all boxes from a pallet in bulk, click the three dots next to the pallet details and select Unassign All Boxes.
The unassigned boxes will move back to the Shipment Boxes section so they can be assigned to a pallet again.
To remove a pallet, click the three dots next to the pallet details and select Remove Pallet & Boxes.
The pallet will be removed from the Pallet section, and the unassigned boxes will move back to the Shipment Boxes section so they can be assigned to a different pallet.
Once all the boxes have been assigned to pallets and the pallet details have been entered, it's time to estimate shipping charges.
Estimating Charges
Once you've entered all of the box and pallet information, click Next: Estimate Charges to proceed.
The Estimated Charges window will appear and display the following information:
- Shipping Carrier
- Number of Boxes in the Shipment
- Number of Stackable Pallets
- Number of Non-Stackable Pallets
- Total Shipment Weight
- Estimated Pick-up Date
- Freight Class
- Declared Value
- Estimated Shipping Costs
- Ship From Address
You will also see a message stating that the estimated pick-up date may change and that you'll be able to print labels for your boxes and pallets once the shipping charges have been confirmed.
If everything looks correct, click Accept Charges to proceed.
You will be asked to confirm that you'd like to proceed with purchasing shipping. Once done, you will not be able to make changes to the shipment without voiding the charges. (Charges can be voided within 1 hour of purchase.)
Click Yes to proceed. The cost will be billed to your Amazon Seller account as an inbound transportation charge.
The box labels will automatically download as a .PDF to your computer's downloads folder. These labels can be printed in 4 x 6 or 8.5 x 11 sizes.
If you have toggled On the Unified 2D & Box Labels option in your Manage Label Printing settings, a new tab will open containing your Unified Labels. From this new tab, you may download and/or print these Unified Labels.
Note: If your labels don't seem to be opening, try these steps- My 2D barcode labels or shipping labels aren't opening!
The pallet labels will also download as a .PDF to your computer's downloads folder.
At this point, you can apply your 2D barcodes, box labels, and pallet labels. For information on how to apply labels to your boxes and pallets, please refer to Amazon's guidelines- Shipment label requirements
The shipment will also change to "Ready for Carrier" status in the Working Shipments window in InventoryLab.
Note: Amazon marks shipments as "Shipped" with the first scan from the carrier. They will still show in the Working Shipments window in InventoryLab and as "Working" in Seller Central until that time.
Once the shipment is showing as "Shipped" in Seller Central, clicking the Sync Shipments button in InventoryLab will update the Working Shipments area and clear out the shipment.
That's it! Once you complete these steps for all the shipments in the batch, it will close automatically as this completes the workflow for it in InventoryLab.
Request BOL
Once shipping has been purchased through InventoryLab, you can request a BOL (Bill of Lading) from Amazon.
Note: If you purchased shipping using a non-partnered carrier, the BOL will be provided by the carrier directly.
From the List>List & Prep page, locate the Working Shipments window, click the 3 horizontal lines to the right of the shipment, and select Request BOL.
You will see a message stating that the BOL is generated on the morning of the pickup date. To see if Amazon has made it available, click Request BOL.
You can also download a blank BOL as a .PDF by clicking the link in the message.
